Travel Planning
While much of New England appears in plain view in terms of history, beauty, arts, cuisine, and vibrancy, the best is too often only known or recognized by “lifers” like us who have really lived it, and so then missed by visitors without travel planning.
We are not a commission-driven travel agency, so please read on!
Travelers spend hours and hours to arrive here, on top of gasoline or flight costs, plus lodging and meals. Given the high-season cost of hotel rooms in greater Boston, many visitors only have a few days to explore what is around them in Boston, Cambridge, and environs. Some business travelers have only part of a weekend, or even just a few hours to explore!
I help visitors enjoy Boston, and Massachusetts, and all New England as I do, by meeting them person-to-person on my web/audio bridge to help them think through and plan their travel here via focused, interactive Travel Planning sessions. We are not a commission-driven travel agency, and YankeeTravel.US does not profit from its suggestions to customers.
Knowing first-hand the limits of travel agents and travel agencies’ commission-driven work, the deficiencies of tourist literature and on-line resources, and unreliability of social media reviews and suggestions, YankeeTravel.US helps visitors plan to make the most of their touristic investments and opportunities based on their particular interests and what we already know and love about exploring here!
This includes Lexington, Concord, Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, and other key Revolutionary War sites. . .
YankeeTravel.US helps clients immerse themselves through focused, interactive itinerary planning sessions conducted online via Microsoft Teams meetings. What you want to see and do
Our planning sessions begin based on customers’ in-take form responses.
Avoiding crowds and tourist traps, and helping customers see all they want to see, “hidden gems” for instance. . .
Many of the joys of Boston are easier and less expensive to enjoy in other smaller New England towns
Getting around
Three of our beautiful New England states are not well connected to each other by interstate highways. There are some routine traffic backups on regional interstates which we can help you avoid.
Boston, Cambridge, and nearby towns share a robust public transportation system — including water transport — so you can visit nearby towns, some of New Hampshire, or some of Rhode Island sustainably. . . without needing an automobile!
We can tell you this up-front “for free”: not every rural corner of our region is easy to explore via bicycle.
Where to stay
We can help you evaluate hotels, bed and breakfasts, and other types of lodging and locations.
During high-season April through October–and for some other purposes–downtown Boston and even Back Bay may not be economical and practical places to stay overnight to explore Boston.
In some areas, quaint New England bed and breakfasts may overprice themselves for many travelers.
Where and what to eat
Restaurants, food halls, pubs, gourmet food shops, farmers’ markets, local artisanal agriculture, and more.
In some areas, credit cards are NOT widely accepted…And some lobster rolls are better than others!

Destinations, activities, and events
Generally, we recommend that even visitors staying in Boston try to spend at least a few hours exploring outside downtown Boston because history, culture, convenience, and natural beauty abound across this region and because all six states are dotted with quaint, historic, welcoming, and comfortable towns and small cities.
Arts and culture — New England has several world-class art galleries which are free!
Sports and athletics — Perhaps you’d like to ice skate on an NHL practice rink? What about good seats to watch the Red Sox in Fenway Park? Where should one buy tickets? How about some top-notch college women’s basketball?
Now, what would YOU like to see and do, eat and drink, ponder and make your own on your upcoming visit here?
